Stephen Ogilvie // Director
Stephen began his career as a Nurseryman and Landscaper before establishing the practice in 1994. Client focused and with an uncompromising insistence on quality, Stephen has developed a reputation for delivering outstanding garden projects across Scotland. He provides landscape consultation services, design proposals and manages the sourcing and installation of mature specimen plants.
Nick Starnes (MSGD) // Managing Director
Nick constructed and managed high-end landscape projects in the South East before joining Stephen Ogilvie in 2008. He studied Garden Design at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh graduating with Distinction. He has since achieved coveted status as a Registered Member of the Society of Garden Designers, recognising his design skills and placing him amongst only 200 professionally accredited designers in Europe. Nick oversees our Design Studio and Project Management.
Alan MacInnes (MSc Landscape Architecture) // Designer
Alan studied Plantsmanhip at the Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh in 2010, following which he worked within the RBGE’s ‘Living Collection’ as a Horticulturist. He continued his career as Head Gardener at a renowned Hotel/Restuarant in the Trossachs, managing and developing a Kitchen Garden and featuring in ‘Kitchen Garden Experts: 20 Celebrated Chefs and their Head Gardeners’. Alan studied an Msc in Landscape Architecture at Edinburgh University whilst maintaining a role within the Stephen Ogilvie construction team. He joined our design studio in 2019 having completed his studies.
Matt Henton // Horticulture Manager
Matt is qualified to RHS Level 3. He has a wealth of experience in managing and maintaining private gardens. An expert understanding of plant growth and environment allows Matt to work alongside our client base to achieve thriving planting schemes and nurture our installations.
Dianne Ferguson // Garden Designer
Dianne originally studied BA(Hons) in International Product Design before completing her MA in Design Practice & Management. Her passion for garden and landscape led Dianne to study Garden Design and horticulture at SRUC. She joined the studio in 2023 where she works on a diverse portfolio of design projects. Dianne specialises in 3D modelling and architectural renders.
