HOLYROOD, EDINBURGH

Award winning CITY garden

We were commissioned on a design & build basis to create a family garden in Central Edinburgh. A stone wall split the garden into two terraces, with a lower terrace of concrete slabs and an upper terrace laid to lawn with mixed shrub planting along the boundary walls.

Our design split the garden into three levels, with a lower patio enclosed by stone and steel clad walling. A floating steel staircase leads to a formal mid-terrace, laid to lawn and punctuated by box-form Carpinus and Taxus domes. The upper level offers secondary seating and borrows planting inspiration from the woodland beyond.

Weathering steel and oxidised Caithness slate combine with large format porcelain pavers to create a contemporary garden.
